Crumbs from the Table of Joy by Lynn Nottage

When: May 5-15, 2022, Thursdays through Sundays
Where: Coconino Center for the Arts
Address: 2300 N Fort Valley Rd, Flagstaff, AZ

Crumbs from the Table of Joy is a nuanced look into a Black family’s experience in 1950’s Brooklyn, written by the dynamic and renowned playwright, Lynn Nottage. The protagonist is Ermina, the youngest daughter of the Crump family, whose father transplants his two teenage daughters from Florida to New York on the cusp of the civil rights movement.

Navigating family, religion, and politics, the play explores the consequences of change and discovers that “joy comes in the morning.”

After being postponed several seasons due to the pandemic, FlagShakes is thrilled to finally bring this powerful story to life. Featuring a stellar cast of five and directed by Phoenix director Bray Lawrence, this show is sure to tug at your heartstrings and get you thinking.

The play will run Thursdays through Sundays May 5 through 15 at the Coconino Center for the Arts, in partnership with Creative Flagstaff and with support from National Endowment on the Arts, the City of Flagstaff BBB Revenues, Flagstaff365.com, the Arizona Community Foundation, and the Arizona Commission on the Arts.
