Welcome to the official website of the Flagstaff Convention & Visitors Bureau.
We are charged with developing, promoting and maintaining Flagstaff as a year-round visitor destination with professional and visitor services that will benefit the community economically, environmentally and socially. In addition, the Flagstaff Visitor Center aims to introduce and educate visitors about the vast tourism opportunities within Flagstaff and the surrounding areas, and to increase the frequency of visitors to Flagstaff and length of stay.
The Convention and Visitors Bureau is part of the Economic Vitality Division of the City of Flagstaff. Economic Vitality also includes the Flagstaff Pulliam Airport and the Community Investment Section, which consists of the Economic Development, Community Design and Redevelopment Programs.
The Flagstaff Convention and Visitors Bureau is charged with administering tourism programs for the City of Flagstaff and receives an allocation of 30 percent of the BBB tax collected. Programs include marketing to tour operators, travel agents, meeting planners, group coordinators and individual leisure travelers; as well as development of public outreach and educational programs, media relations and media coverage. The CVB is also responsible for the creation and maintenance of partnership opportunities locally and regionally.
The CVB administration oversees daily operations and programming and is responsible for setting and maintaining budgets, making presentations to City Council, media and service groups, as well as coordinating the Flagstaff Tourism Commission, maintaining a high level of communication with the commission regarding program areas, seeking their support of marketing efforts and addressing various industry concerns. Administration staff create and enhance local and regional cooperative programs and serve as the main contact for statewide organizations including the Arizona Office of Tourism and Arizona Tourism Alliance, as well as Flagstaff Cultural Partners, Flagstaff Chamber of Commerce and others.
The marketing and creative services program develops the CVB’s advertising strategies, communication materials, and action plans that promote Flagstaff as a destination, supporting the CVB’s overall marketing mission. Staff manage the consumer and stakeholder databases, oversee market and travel trend research, develop e-marketing strategies, and direct social media efforts. This program is also responsible for promoting all the events and opportunities that Flagstaff has to offer by ensuring high visibility of Flagstaff on a national and international level through a variety of media outlets.
Design and production of the CVB’s advertising campaign creative, Visitor Guide, website, Flagstaff Happenings, Calendar of Events and other print and online marketing collateral are completed in-house by CVB creative services staff. They also oversee the CVB photo library and overall branding to ensure consistent visual messaging.
The public relations program works directly with the media, pitching stories ideas, writing press releases, maintaining media relations, and responding to media inquiries. Staff oversee all media coverage domestically and internationally while conducting press trips/familiarization tours with outlets and working closely with local area attractions, community organizations and others to publicize Flagstaff programs. PR staff produce the CVB’s industry newsletter InfoBytes, oversee the CVB’s social media presence, and coordinate local tourism awareness programming.
The CVB sales program coordinates all tour and travel and well as meeting and events sales efforts. Staff assume all duties associated with the promotion of Flagstaff as a prime destination for tour operators and meeting and event organizers. They do this by working directly with tour operators, travel agents, student youth groups, FIT’s and wholesalers and meeting planners that represent associations, corporations and government entities. Staff also build and maintain relationships within the community to gain commitment from hotels, restaurants, local venues and various attractions in support of the CVB’s goals while also organizing and attending trade shows, sales calls, FAMs and other events aimed at representatives that will bring increased visitation.
The Flagstaff Film Commission is housed within the CVB and works with the Arizona Department of Commerce and state-wide Film Offices to generate a Flagstaff presence in film, video, commercials, and still photo shoots.
Located in the Historic Train Station, the Flagstaff Visitor Center is charged with providing local, state and regional information to visitors in order to enhance or extend their stay.
