AS A FLAGSTAFF RESIDENT, WHAT DOES TOURISM DO FOR ME?

  • The Arizona tourism industry generates an annual tax savings of $1,360 for every Arizona household according to the Arizona Office of Tourism.
  • Tourism generates nearly 8,000 jobs in Flagstaff according to Northern Arizona University research.
  • Quality of life is enhanced through tourism resulting from the collection of the Bed, Board and Booze tax which partially funds city services and programs including:

Beautification........................................$1.7M, 20%
Economic Development........................$821K, 9.5%
Tourism..................................................$2.6M, 30%
Arts & Science........................................$649K, 7.5%
Recreation..............................................$8.7M, 33%

Flagstaff welcomed 5.5M visitors last year. Most of their travel originated from:

   • Domestic – Greater Phoenix area, California, Texas, Illinois, Wisconsin and Florida
   • International - Canada, United Kingdom, Australia, France and Germany

More tourism economics:

The 5.5M visitors generated an estimated $750M of greater economic impact in Flagstaff in 2018. Average stay is three nights. Vacation and leisure travel is the primary visitation purpose.
