Flagstaff Celebrates the Route 66 Centennial

Reminiscent of the era, this event will be a day-long, free, family-friendly experience featuring nostalgic reenactments, a classic car show, streetscape art installations, and a festival in ‘The only 7,000-foot elevation, pine-fresh, dark-sky city on the Mother Road.’

66 Things-to-Do is a digital passport offering many must-do activities and experiences, including indulging in a hot dog at the Route 66 location that inspired a famous Eagles song, dancing or raising a glass in an original roadhouse... all this and more.

Yep, That's Flagstaff!

Please join us in Heritage Square at 2pm for a speech from special dignitary guests, singing "Happy Birthday" together, and cupcakes for the first 100 kids in line.

The mall is offering a dance party with Buzz Lightyear, 3D street murals for photo opportunities, and a chalk station where you can channel your inner artist.

To "top off" the day, after the Route 66 Centennial celebration concludes at 5pm, there will be more live music on Heritage Square while the community prepares for the annual sit-out, Movies on the Square. Each summer, Downtown Flagstaff transforms into the ultimate outdoor movie theater, and you’re invited to join in the fun. This evening will feature the movie "Cars" by Disney.  Shout out to the Downtown Business Alliance for continuing to put on this cherished event.
