Flagstaff Celebrates the Route 66 Centennial

Reminiscent of the era, this event will be a day-long experience, and a free, family-friendly event which includes nostalgic reenactments, classic car show, sky writing, streetscape art installations, and a festival in ‘The only 7,000-foot elevation, pine-fresh, dark-sky city on the Mother Road.’

66 Things-to-Do is a digital passport providing many must-see and do activities and experiences that include indulging in a hot dog at the Route 66 location that inspired a famous Eagles song, dancing or raising a glass in an original roadhouse... all this and more. Yep, That's Flagstaff!

Family fun includes:

  • Balloon art
  • Face painting
  • Charm Bracelet making station with Historic Route 66 Association

A few groups in attendance will be:

  • NAU Marching Band performance
  • Theatrikos
  • Ukulele Club performance

To "top off" the day, after the Route 66 Centennial celebration concludes, there will be more live music on Heritage Square while the community prepares for our sit-in Movies on the Square showing of the movie Cars by Disney.
