AS A FLAGSTAFF RESIDENT, WHAT DOES TOURISM DO FOR ME?

  • Every Flagstaff household receives $1,331 in tax relief related to visitor spend.*
*Data is based on research and opinions of the industry data analytics expert Dean Runan Associates.
  • Tourism generates nearly 8,000 jobs in Flagstaff according to Northern Arizona University research.
  • Quality of life is enhanced through tourism resulting from the collection of the Bed, Board and Booze tax which partially funds city services and programs including:

Beautification........................................ 20%
Economic Development........................ 9.5%
Tourism.................................................. 30%
Arts & Science........................................ 7.5%
Recreation.............................................. 33%

Flagstaff welcomed 5 million visitors last year. Most of their travel originated from:

  • Domestic – Greater Phoenix area, California, Texas, Nevada, Colorado, and other states…
  • International - France, Germany, United Kingdom, Mexico, Belgium, Netherlands, Australia, Italy & Spain

More tourism economics:

The 5 million visitors generated an estimated $750M of greater economic impact in Flagstaff in 2018. Average stay is three nights. Vacation and leisure travel is the primary visitation purpose.
