Flagstaff, Ariz. - As seasonal temperatures rise and hot and dry conditions increase in the forests, your help is essential with wildfire prevention.

The tragic scenes from the Wildcat Fire burning in the Tonto National Forest near Bartlett Lake are a reminder of the destruction wildland fires can cause. With visitors expected to travel to Flagstaff for the Memorial Day holiday, heightened awareness of wildfire prevention is necessary.

  • Be aware and knowledgeable of fire restrictions.
  • It is illegal to abandon a campfire.
  • Dragging tow chains or straps can spark a wildfire.
  • Parking vehicles in dry, grassy areas can spark a wildfire.
  • Smoking and e-cigarrettes are prohibited in Flagstaff’s public places.
  • Stick to designated forest roads and trails.
  • The use of fireworks is prohibited in Flagstaff.
