Sustainable tourism was coined in the 1990’s amidst a growing recognition that all industries need to reflect on, and revise practices to contribute to global sustainability efforts.

CoCo-Op: Flagstaff's Maker Space is a non-profit that encourages reusing materials to make new things, from artwork to home furniture. This group was awarded a Neighborhood Sustainability Grant. The Neighborhood Sustainability Grant program promotes innovation and sustainable action.

Azulita Project provides reusable dishes for events and promotes ways to recapture plastic from our community.

Willow Bend Environmental Center provides lots of educational opportunities while visiting Flagstaff and their facility is certified sustainable building.
