Farewell 2023! 2024 is being welcomed with a big hello.
For more than 100 years, the Weatherford Hotel has punctuated the Flagstaff skyline, enduring many changes and historical milestones.
But just twenty-three years ago, the Great Pinecone Drop became Flagstaff’s New Year’s Eve tradition in 1999, when the Weatherford Hotel rang in the new millennium and honored the Hotel’s 100-year anniversary. Since then, thousands have gathered in the streets for the countdown into the New Year and the lowering of the Pinecone followed by a brief fireworks display.
The most premier way to take place in this event is by being a guest at the Weatherford Hotel for New Year’s Eve! Want to immerse yourself in the action? Stay in one of their 17 beautifully historic rooms! Make your reservations for December 31, 2023. All guests must be 21+ years old. Unfortunately, they do NOT allow kids on this night. Hotel rooms include 2 VIP Golden Tickets to the event in Zane Grey!
You can also ring in the New Year at the Zane Grey Ballroom, Bar, and Balcony as a VIP Golden Ticket Holder! This is THE premier viewing of the event as they drop the pinecone right from this very balcony! This space is located on the 3rd floor of the Weatherford Hotel. Please note, there is NOT an elevator, and stairs are the only way to access this space. This is also a 21+ only event.
But wait, there's more! Visit Charly’s restaurant for a wonderful dining experience! Reservations must be made ahead of time. This is a great way to involve the entire family if you are looking to celebrate the New Year with children! Tickets will become available through a link posted here on Tuesday, November 15th!
As the hub for live music, The Gopher Hole will be featuring an artist for a warm place to celebrate this big event! There will be a cover charge at the door. More info. coming soon!
Another great option for all is to simply join on the streets and marvel at the excitement the town of Flagstaff brings on this wintery night! Show up, bring some family and/or friends, and enjoy New Year’s Eve Flagstaff style! The Pinecone will drop at noon, 10PM, and midnight. The noon drop is great for younger kids and there will be an event leading up to it in heritage square put on by the Downtown Business Alliance to celebrate “Noon Year’s Eve.”
