The city is located at 7,000 feet (2,135 meters) elevation in the midst of the world’s largest Ponderosa pine forest where temperatures rarely exceed 90 degrees (32 degrees Celsius) in the summer, fall brings a brilliant change of color, winter snowfall averages 108 inches and spring bursts with blossoms. The Flagstaff Airport (FLG) offers several daily flights to Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (PHX) meaning it is simply a quick connection to many destinations around the world. Further, direct air service is also available from FLG to Los Angeles (LAX) and Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW) International Airports. The Amtrak train depot services Flagstaff twice daily on the “Southwest Chief” line from the historic train station in the center of downtown.
