Join a discussion with NAU Assistant Professor Sean Parson about art, anarchism, punk and decentralizing art while making your own zine!
Thin Air Literary Magazine is hosting monthly workshops throughout the year to engage community members interested in writing, literary and visual arts. For this workshop NAU Assistant Professor Sean Parson will lead a discussion around ideas of art as resistance. The workshop will focus on zine making as a tradition of DIY publishing that encourages self-expression and prioritizes artistic freedom over profit. Attendees will have an opportunity to create their own zines, materials will be provided. This event is free and open to the public.
Thin Air Magazine proudly cultivates a Flagstaff-based, MFA student-led literary community with global reach to publish emerging authors with intriguing ideas. Based at 7,000 feet out of Northern Arizona University, we have no choice but to invite work that takes us to dizzying heights with its innovation and insight. We aspire to foster diversity, authenticity, surprise, and excitement while making the literary world accessible to everyone. Three decades in, we still can’t forget these words from our founders: “All too often, the literary world takes itself too seriously…Thin Air hopes to change that.”
