Bright Side Bookshop is excited to host Jessica Grace Vargas.
A book purchase is not required for admission and books will be available for purchase at the event! About the Book: Sixteen-year-old Kennedy Neff is desperate to find the father she’s never met. Her mother remembers almost nothing about him—except for the strange symbol tattooed on his wrist. But Kennedy is sure of one thing: she inherited her otherworldly abilities from him. When those powers earn her a spot at an elite institute on a paradise planet at the far edge of the universe, she sees a chance to uncover the truth. Amid alien landscapes and newfound friendships, Kennedy’s heart is pulled in an unexpected direction—toward Reddick, a dreamy upperclassman whom she feels is light-years out of her league. As their connection deepens, so do the secrets surrounding her father. Every clue brings Kennedy closer to uncovering his identity, but also closer to danger. With an intergalactic war on the horizon, Kennedy’s quest for her father collides with her growing feelings for Reddick. But in her relentless search, she will uncover a family secret that will change not only her world but the entire universe. About the Author: Jessica Grace Vargas is an author with a passion for romantic science fiction, blending the imaginative worlds of George Lucas with the nuanced romance of Jane Austen. Born and raised in Tucson, Arizona, she spent her summers in Mexico, where she often felt alien and out-of-place—both central themes in her debut young adult science fiction romance novel, THE EVOLVER, set to release on September 26, 2024. Jessica's real writing education came from writing and performing sketch comedy at the Second City in Hollywood, where she learned that the best type of comedy is the heart-filled kind. She carries that lesson into her writing, aiming to create stories that are both entertaining and emotionally resonant. Vargas currently lives in Sedona, Arizona, a place that inspires the otherworldly landscapes in her stories, with her husband and their two cats—Forrest Wolverine Binx and Emilio, the Elder Statesman. When she’s not writing, she’s reading, hiking, or sharing her journey of personal evolution through her newsletter, The Ever-Evolving Human. THE EVOLVER has already caught the eye of the film industry, and she can’t wait to share it with the world!
