An elder-centered community music making group supporting brain health and fostering connections.
Sound Connections is a multi-generational music gathering where community members come together to create, connect, and thrive through live music making. This event welcomes participants with memory loss. Additional caregivers will be available to provide care partner respite during the session. While loved ones are engaged in music-making, care partners are invited to gather to discuss local community needs and solutions for memory loss in Flagstaff. Board Certified music therapist Meghan Callaghan MT-BC will facilitate activities including interactive singing, drumming, movement, songwriting, and guided dialogue. Music has many benefits for people as we age. It provides stimulation to the brain, supports emotional regulation, fosters self-expression, and can improve quality of life.
