Sponsored by the Northern Arizona Book Festival, local poets and writers will teach an accessible poetry workshop on the northwest lawn of the Downtown Flagstaff-Coconino Public Library!
Write in community! Each workshop focuses on a topic or form and challenges you to write on the spot in community with other writers. Please bring a blanket or folding chair to sit on, writing materials, and yourself! There is no age limit and we welcome all writers at any level. Where Poetry Meets Myths, Legends, & Fairy Tales How can old stories be teased apart and then fashioned into new visions, worlds, and inspirations for the modern day? What makes poetry and verse a unique vehicle for these retellings? Together we'll read some fine examples and explore a collection of tales, finally engaging in a series of prompts that help us enter and refashion mythic worlds around contemporary themes.
