Write in community!
Sponsored by the Northern Arizona Book Festival, local poets and writers will teach an accessible poetry workshop on the northwest lawn of the Downtown Flagstaff-Coconino Public Library! Each workshop focuses on a topic or form and challenges you to write on the spot in community with other writers. Please bring a blanket or folding chair to sit on, writing materials, and yourself! There is no age limit and we welcome all writers at any level.
Word Garden PartyEngage in an interactive poetry exercise that crafts poems from word gardens. In this session, we'll treat poems like wildflowers ... words are the seeds, and when they're scattered and you water them, they grow into something beautifully unexpected. Participants will engage in a prompt to develop word lists and swap them to draw inspiration from outside the box. Khara House is a poet, community advocate, and proud NAU grad who loves exploring the edges of language, memory, and identity through creative, brain-bending writing. With a heart for connection and a brain wired for play, Khara blends her passions for community, advocacy, storytelling, and art into spaces of connection, reflection, and transformation.
