In this advanced ceramics class, you will learn to throw larger pieces, throw off the hump as well as advance surface design.
This is an intermediate/advanced class that will cover preparing and working with larger amounts of clay (5+ pounds), going over advanced wheel throwing techniques, trimming larger pieces, throwing off the hump, glazing and advanced surface decoration. These skills will provide a solid foundation to prepare students to explore creating functional or sculptural pieces using a pottery wheel. In this four-class series, students will enhance their understanding of the throwing, trimming and glazing processes with an emphasis on the holistic ceramics process and safety throughout. Prerequisite Recent ceramics experience is required. Students should be comfortable with the basics and be comfortable with throwing smaller amounts of clay prior to taking this class.
