This exhibit brings together five Navajo artists who call Flagstaff home, illuminating the lived experience of existing within a “bordertown”—where boundaries are not only geographical but cultural, spiritual, and social. Music by Sage Bond.
At the base of Doko’oosłííd—the sacred San Francisco Peaks—lies a complex meeting place. Flagstaff is both a city of beauty and contradiction, a community shaped by its proximity to the Navajo Nation yet often blind to the realities faced by Diné people who live, work, and create here. Bordertown: Teachings of Doko’oosłííd brings together five Navajo artists who call Flagstaff home, illuminating the lived experience of existing within a “bordertown”—where boundaries are not only geographical but cultural, spiritual, and social. Join us at 6 for refreshments and music; stay for the talk by artist/activist speaker Jihan Gearon at 7 pm.
