The Orpheum presents ChooPow W/ Friends at the historic Orpheum Theater!
More on the Artist: A former young dad turned late-blooming artist, ChooPow (the legend claims) emerged after years of seclusion in the mountains. People say Choopow was living in the woods, refining its sound, before finally re-entering the world to shake things up. Some people say ChooPow is a myth, like the Lochness Monster or Godzilla, but more likely the truth is somewhere in between. ChooPow is a playful, unpredictable and charismatic performer who thrives on crowd energy and improvisation. The music is one part funk, two parts neo-soul and three parts dance. Some people say their live performance is exaggerated. Some people say ChooPow's spirit animal is a Cheetah. People will say what they want, but honestly who could blame them for thinking such things when ChooPow's signature expression is the tiger growl face. With a signature face like that, you might ask, what is the signature move? I asked ChooPow this very question when I interviewed them last night. The answer they gave, 'the backward hip thrust.' Yes it leaves you wanting doesn't it. But even if their signature move is a bit ass backward, it's the music that matters, right? Well, let me tell you this, what they lack in signature dance moves they more than make up for in musical expression! ChooPow's shit is tight my friends. Tight af! --The Ariel Press
