The Cocodona 250 presented by Altra

A 250-mile trail running race that takes place the first week of May.

The course links together some of the most iconic trails and towns in Arizona for one monumental undertaking of 250 consecutive miles on foot. 400 runners will toe the starting line in Black Canyon City and another 1,000 will run different sections of the course in the “shorter race distances”. With a 125, 100, 80, and 40-miler, there is something for the whole family, if your family is into traversing Arizona from the beautiful Sonoran Desert, through canyons and pine forests and ending with the now iconic left on Birch in historical downtown Flagstaff. This is a magical route leading to the heart of Flagstaff.

The accomplishment of traveling the Cocodona Trail on foot will be one of the most life changing and epic journeys of an endurance athlete's career. Flagstaff is the perfect culmination to the journey.  Information about the race, its history and special relationship to Flagstaff is available on cocodona.com.

The goal is to inspire not only those participating in this grand adventure on foot, but also the people who breathe life into these amazing communities the race traverses through.

The name Cocodona is derived from “Coconino”, the county and National Forest where the race ends and “Sedona” one of the many towns the race traverses. The spectacular beauty of Sedona is magnified as runners see the San Francisco peaks rising in the far distance as they traverse the course.

This year, hundreds of runners in both the Cocodona 250, Sedona Canyons 125, and Flagstaff Crest 40 will make their way along the beautiful trails of Arizona to end in Heritage Square. A gathering place for runners, crews and endurance enthusiasts. Crowds gather in Heritage Square to cheer on runners, from the first finishers, through the middle of the pack, and all the way to the last who crosses the line at the125 hour cutoff. The Bradshaw Brute 100 and Mingus Traverse 80 are the other two race distances (5 in total) but they do not finish in Flagstaff. You can follow the runners as they progress along the course through the race’s live tracking:  Cocodona Tracking & Livestream - Aravaipa Running.

The Cocodona 250 presented by Altra has quickly become a world renown event as the popularity of the distance and the race has grown. Mountain Outpost broadcasts a livestream of the race to international audiences. The Livestream can be watched here: (1) Mountain Outpost - YouTube.
