This summer, Flagstaff Shakespeare Festival presents two of Shakespeare’s most popular plays: Twelfth Night and Romeo and Juliet. Join us on the campus of Lowell Observatory under our festival tent for Shakespeare under the stars!
“If music be the food of love, play on.” So begins Shakespeare’s famous comedy Twelfth Night, a story about finding love, overcoming adversity, and yellow stockings! Twelfth Night follows the story of Viola, who washes ashore on Illyria, where she disguises herself as a boy in order to serve the handsome Duke Orsino. Comedy ensues as feelings are caught between all the wrong people, identities are mistaken, and our favorite characters must navigate tumultuous island waters. And their love lives …
Both plays are directed by renowned Shakespeare director Jim Warren, founding Artistic Director of the American Shakespeare Center, and include a dynamic, professional company of actors and artists from all over Arizona and the country.
The shows stagger in performances! Twelfth Night opens first and runs July 28-August 6. Romeo and Juliet opens second and runs August 3-13. Each show will have a Pay-What-You-Will Preview the night before opening. On the overlapping weekend, the shows will switch off nightly.
