Beautiful Terrain for All Skill Levels
Flagstaff mountain bikers can access some of the area's best trails without ever loading the bike rack. The city's 33-mile urban trail system links into surrounding mountain bike trails to the north, south, east and west. From the steep trails of the San Francisco Peaks to scenic cruises along the Mogollon Rim, Flagstaff has something for everyone who prefers pedal power to internal combustion. But loading the bike onto the car adds a whole new dimension to Flagstaff's mountain bike season. Sedona's famous red rock trails are only a half hour drive to the south, giving the most extreme rock hoppers plenty of time for their fare share of thrills and spills.
BMX rider? Be sure to visit the Basin BMX facility. This bike-only facility offers a range of tricks for all skill levels, including three basins, and an over-vert wall.
While in town, rent a bike to explore the area. Rentals are available at Absolute Bikes, and AZ Bikes, located in downtown Flagstaff near various trailheads.
Mountain Bike Safety in the High Country
Mountain bikers should be prepared with water, sunscreen, rain jacket, and safety gear. Be aware that quick changes in weather frequently happen in the mountains. For trail and bike safety resources, visit the various Arizona and Flagstaff sites to plan you next adventure.
