Winter Recreation Media Guide
The Winter Recreation Guide is part of Flagstaff’s annual snow plan, continuing with the defined objective to convey winter awareness through the media with information regarding road conditions, traffic safety and the latest weather conditions in and around the Flagstaff area.
It is imperative that Arizona residents and out-of-state guests have an accurate perception of Flagstaff’s winter season and are prepared to travel to northern Arizona. The Flagstaff Convention and Visitors Bureau strives to assure visitors that they are welcome to enjoy all that our city has to offer, including hotels, restaurants, shopping, attractions and outdoor recreation.
Tourism makes a $30 billion impact to the state’s economy and generates $1 billion in taxes for Ari’s general fund each year, according to the Arizona Office of Tourism. With that in mind, the FCVB is providing this guide to the media in order for the winter recreation message to be relayed to the public accurately and effectively when the snow starts to fall. We need your help to provide Arizona residents and visitors with the information necessary to fully enjoy northern Arizona’s winter activities and events.
Tourism is an essential component to Flagstaff’s economy and livelihood. Visitors equipped with the knowledge and understanding of Arizona’s high country conditions may continue to experience the discovery and exploration of the area’s natural wonders year-round.
The Winter Recreation Guide is a seasonal resource packet designed to provide the media with essential winter information about the Flagstaff area including seasonal weather terms, winter driving tips, what to include in a car safety kit, facts about clearing the roads, Flagstaff snow and weather statistics.
