DAY FIVE: Red Rocks and the Old West

Drive south to Sedona along Highway 89A, stopping at the scenic overlook before descending into Oak Creek Canyon and at Slide Rock State Park, named for its slick rocks and natural water chutes. In Sedona, enjoy one of the great lunch choices with views of the red-rock scenery. Afterward, stop at Tuzigoot National Monument, a pueblo built by the ancient Sinagua people, and visit Jerome, an old hillside mining town. It’s a must-see for Old West fans!

Later, return to Flagstaff’s historic 1890s downtown and relax at a sidewalk cafe or browse unique shops. Finally, celebrate your five days in Flagstaff with dinner at one of the excellent nearby restaurants.
